Well after 6 months of hitting my head against the PM certification glass ceiling I've finally given in to the mindless recruiting agencies and have signed up to get PMP certification so that I am not excluded from any more Project Manager opportunities.
I can't believe how expensive this stuff is. To date I've had to pay US$129 for PMI Membership, US$405 for certification application, US$233 for PMI exam materials, and I expect another few $100 for exam preparation classes.
I've read the PMBOK and Prince2 manuals and I'm still none the wiser as to why anyone in their right mind thinks that this motherhood stuff is worth all the expense and trouble. Why I need to get a PMP certificate after 20 years as a Project Manager is beyond my comprehension, but I'm at my wits end now and self justification does not pay the bills.
Are there any other Project Managers out there that have been through this process and done the PMP certification exam ? what should I do to prepare for this exam, so I don't waste any more time or money?
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
